PMS or Pregnancy?
This is very commonly asked question, and unfortunately, there is no easy answer. PMS symptoms and early pregnancy symptoms can be eerily similar, and it can be hard for you to distinguish between the two. The easiest way to find out if you’re pregnant is to take a home pregnancy test. (Or better – make an appointment with your gynecologist or doctor and get a blood pregnancy test to see if you have any pregnant hormones in your blood stream.)
Women who have never been pregnant before may have a more difficult time distinguishing pregnancy from PMS. But women who have had children and have indeed been pregnant in the past will tell you that it can be hard to tell the two apart.
If you’ve been trying to conceive, or on the flip side, if you are worried about an unplanned or unexpected pregnancy, this article will help you understand the difference between PMS and early pregnancy symptoms.
Common PMS Symptoms
Premenstrual syndrome – or PMS for short – are symptoms that women can start to experience 1 to 2 weeks before your period. They typically strike after ovulation (day 14 of your menstrual cycle, if you have a regular 28-day cycle). PMS symptoms go away after you start your period. And of course, they come back again a few weeks later. That is the joy of being a woman!
Women experience PMS in different ways and in varying degree of severity. For some women, they have such severe PMS symptoms that it disrupts their daily lives. For others, their PMS is just annoying.
The most common PMS symptoms include swollen and tender breasts (which can be a common early pregnancy symptom); fatigue and tiredness (another possible sign you’re pregnant); bloating (yet another pregnancy symptom); headaches; anxiety and depression along with mood swings; food cravings (which also strike when you are pregnant); joint and muscle pain; harder time with concentration and your memory; and menstrual cramps.
As you can see, all of these premenstrual symptoms are identical to early pregnancy symptoms and signs of pregnancy. So it can be super easy to confuse the two of them apart, especially if your period is late.
Women who are trying to conceive, who chart their basal body temperature on a regular basis, may have an easier time answering the question, “Is it PMS or Pregnancy?” But most women who are sexually active with a late or delayed period will have a really hard time telling the two apart.
So how can you tell whether your symptoms are PMS or pregnancy symptoms? A home pregnancy test, or a blood pregnancy test taken at your doctor’s office, is the easiest way to find out.

Early Signs of Pregnancy
What makes PMS versus Pregnancy such a complicated issue is the fact that the earliest signs of pregnancy can appear in the first weeks after you conceive – even before you’ve missed a period.
- Having tender, swollen breasts (just like with PMS) is a very common first sign of pregnancy. They may feel tingly, sensitive to touch and even full. It’s really uncomfortable but it may be a warning sign that you’ve conceived, and your breasts are getting revved up for breastfeeding in nine months.
- Nausea is a classic pregnancy symptom; however, you should know that some women can also get nauseous when they PMS. It’s a less common PMS symptom, but it does happen.
- Extreme exhaustion and fatigue (another PMS symptom) can also mean that you’ve conceived and are expecting a baby. This is actually one of the first signs that you’ll notice. It’s like an overwhelming tiredness, like you’ve been running a marathon and you just want to collapse and rest.
- Food cravings (or aversions) can also signal that you’re pregnant. But again, some women who have PMS typically eat more and often crave certain foods, like chocolate.
- Mood swings, crying spells and feeling weepy, is another early sign of pregnancy, but it is also very common when you have PMS.
- Spotting and cramping may be a sign of implantation – the embryo (growing baby) has implanted itself into the wall of your uterus. Not all women experience implantation bleeding (which is very light in nature), but it is considered one of the very first signs of pregnancy. Along with spotting, some women feel abdominal cramping, similar to the menstrual cramping you experience during your period. You might just feel achy, and this might be a clue that your little one has successfully implanted itself.
Some women who get pregnant don’t experience any of these early signs and symptoms of pregnancy. But they are classic pregnancy symptoms that can be easily misinterpreted as just plain PMS.
If you think there is a chance that you could be expecting, you should make an appointment with your doctor or healthcare provider to take a home pregnancy test. Remember, if you are pregnant, the earlier you start getting prenatal care, the healthier your pregnancy and your baby will be!
Now, let’s discuss the common symptoms of PMS and Pregnancy.
Fatigue and Exhaustion – Both a PMS and Pregnancy Symptom
A vast majority of women experience fatigue and tiredness when they are PMSing. You might not experience fatigue every single month, but chances are you’ve experienced PMS fatigue before.
Fatigue is actually one of the first pregnancy symptoms to show up. It can strike about one week after conception – before you’ve even missed a period. This early pregnancy symptom is caused by increased levels of progesterone, a hormone that helps support the pregnancy and baby.
Some pregnant women describe pregnancy fatigue to be very similar to the very worst PMS fatigue. You are just so exhausted that all you want to do is take a nap. Fortunately, fatigue dissipates and goes away for a little while during the second trimester.
Fatigue is a common symptom to both PMS and Pregnancy.
Tender and Swollen Breasts – Symptoms of Both
Breast changes are common to both pregnancy and PMS.
After ovulation, some women with PMS may notice that your breasts become swollen, enlarged and are tender to touch. For smaller breasted women, this uncomfortable PMS symptoms causes your breasts to grow and they are bigger than normal. But it’s only temporary, because they will go back to their regular size after your period begins.
Tender and swollen breasts are also a very common pregnancy symptom, and one of the first signs of pregnancy. Your breasts can be tender, or they can feel sore and tingly. You might notice that they are fuller and heavier. Breast changes in pregnancy can occur as early as two weeks post-conception.
Mood Swings and Crying Spells – PMSing and Pregnant Women
PMS can come with crazy mood swings. You’re happy and laughing one minute, and the next, someone says something that you take completely the wrong way and it has you angry or in tears. You don’t know what’s wrong with you, or why your hormones are so out of whack and you are so emotional. Sound familiar?
Mood swings, crying spells, irritability, and emotional changes are also very common in early pregnancy. All those hormones in a pregnant woman’s body can make her very moody and emotional.
Because both PMS mood swings and Pregnancy emotional changes are nearly identical to each other, it can be hard to tell whether you’re just PMSing or if you’re pregnant based on this symptom alone.
Food Cravings – Premenstrual Symptom and Classic Pregnancy
This is yet another shared symptom of PMS and Pregnancy.
When you are experience premenstrual symptoms, you can definitely notice a change in your eating habits. Some premenstruating women may eat more, because all of a sudden their appetite just explodes. Others may start to crave chocolate and other sweets. And yet others have more of a hankering for salty foods. Food cravings are very common when you are PMSing.
Likewise, this is yet another common pregnancy symptom. Some pregnant women may have an increased appetite. However, in early pregnancy, food aversions are also common. Certain smells and tastes just are repulsive to you. Even a slight whiff of it may trigger your nausea and morning sickness to strike.
Food aversion is classic to early pregnancy, and it can be an indication that you’re going to have a baby.
Acne and Breakouts – Yet Another Shared Symptom
Hormones can wreck havoc on your skin, both when you are PMSing and when you’re pregnant.
When you’re expecting, you have higher levels of androgens (a hormone), which cause the sebaceous glands in your skin to get larger and these hormones also increase oil production and this can clog your pores and prompt you to have more breakouts and acne. In fact, it’s not uncommon for many moms-to-be to feel like their teenage years are back with their acne.
Similarly, premenstrual women also experience more breakouts and worst acne during PMS. Some studies estimate that as high as 78% of adult acne in women experience these unwanted pimples and zits during PMS. In fact, it’s called premenstrual acne, and it is a real phenomenon. It all has to do with the hormonal fluctuations that occur during a normal menstrual cycle. For this reason, hormonal contraceptives (birth control pills and shots) have long been used to help reduce premenstrual breakouts.
Darn those hormones causing this shared symptom of PMS and pregnancy!
Bloating and Weight Gain – PMS and Pregnancy
Who doesn’t dread the bloating you experience before your period arrives? Your bra starts to feel tight, as your breasts swell up; your stomach tends to stick out a little further, making your pants feel tighter than normal. Many women even can gain a few extra pounds. PMS bloating sucks (and luckily, it goes away when you start your period).
Out of all the annoying PMS symptoms, bloating (or water retention) and the extra weight gain it can bring are one of the most hated premenstrual symptoms.
In early pregnancy, bloating is one of the very first signs of pregnancy. And it can be incredibly difficult to distinguish pregnancy bloating from your PMS bloating, since they feel similar. Your pants might start to feel tight, and you might even notice a little pooch. The pregnancy hormone, progesterone, is to blame for your pregnancy bloating, and it definitely sucks.
Since it can be hard to determine what’s the cause of your bloating – normal premenstrual symptoms or you’re pregnant- you should take a home pregnancy test after you’ve missed your period.
Morning Sickness and Nausea – A Hallmark of Pregnancy
Even if you know nothing about pregnancy symptoms, you know that morning sickness is a classic and an infamous pregnancy symptom. According to researchers, up to 90 percent of all expectant mothers will experience morning sickness (nausea and/or vomiting) to some degree during their 40 weeks of pregnancy? The 10 percent of women who are incredibly lucky will never get nauseous or even feel an inkling of when pregnant.
Morning sickness can begin as early as two weeks after you conceive.
Nausea can be a PMS symptom, but it’s only a small percentage of women who actually experience nausea during their premenstrual weeks. So nausea can be common to both PMS and Pregnancy.
Missed Period – Only Pregnancy
PMS ends when you have your period, and an absence of a period means that you’re most likely period. However, a late or delayed period can make it tricky to figure out whether you’re going to be a mother or not.
If you’ve always had regular periods – a menstrual period every single month without fail – experiencing a missed period is definitely the first and unmistakable sign of pregnancy.
Some pregnant women may experience light bleeding or spotting, which can be mistaken for a regular period or a light period, especially if they’ve had irregular periods in the past. This spotting during pregnancy is a sign of implantation – the fertilized egg burrowing itself into the lining of your uterus, where it will make a nice and healthy home for itself of the next nine months.
For a small percentage of women, they may spot randomly on and off throughout their pregnancy. Occasional spotting can be considered normal, but it may also be a sign of a miscarriage.
In fact, because spotting is so confusing, if you’ve ever watched “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant” on Discovery Health, most of those women never realized they were pregnant because they experienced spotting during their pregnancy, which they mistakenly believed was a period.
Implantation spotting doesn’t look like your regular menstrual flow. It’s lighter in flow, and the color is usually a light pink or brownish coffee grounds kind of color.

Because PMS symptoms occur in the days and weeks following ovulation, it’s important that you are aware of ovulation symptoms. Sometimes, PMS symptoms are actually ovulation symptoms. It’s important that you’re aware of these symptoms for many reasons – including the fact that it’s good to be aware of your body’s changes, especially if you’re wondering “Am I pregnant?” And if you are trying to conceive, knowing your ovulation symptoms may help improve your chances of getting pregnant.
Women with a regular 28-day cycle will ovulate around day 14 (the second week after their last period begins). Around this time, you might notice some of the following symptoms of ovulation
Cervical mucus changes – A common sign of ovulation is a difference in your cervical mucus. Around the time you ovulate, your vaginal discharge might be transparent, like the color of egg whites. You will have a lot more discharge than normal, and when you examine your mucus, you will notice that it’s sticky and stretchy. You can actually hold it between your thumb and index finger and stretch it for about an inch, and it will not break.
Basal Body Temperature Increase – As you may have noticed in the PMS vs. Pregnancy chart above, premenstrual women and expectant mothers will experience a rise in their basal body temperature. During ovulation, you can expect your BBT to rise between 0.5 to 1.5 degrees. Your BBT will remain higher until you have your period, when it will decrease. If you happen to be pregnant, your basal body temperature will remain high and not decrease.
Abdominal Cramping or Pain on One Side – Called Mittelschmerz (or “middle pain”), this is a common ovulation symptom that roughly 1 in 5 women will experience. The abdominal discomfort can be mild or severe excruciating pain. It doesn’t last too long, and it’s caused by the bursting of the egg from the follicle during ovulation.
Spotting – Light spotting is also a common ovulation symptom. Not all ovulating women experience spotting, but it can occur.

Are You Pregnant?
After reading the above PMS and early pregnancy symptoms, and you believe you might be pregnant, go take a home pregnancy test or schedule an appointment with your doctor or healthcare provider and get a blood pregnancy test.
The best time, and you will get the most accurate result, is if you take a home pregnancy test after you’ve missed your period. Different HPTs have varying degrees of sensitivity – some are more sensitive to the pregnancy hormone, hCG than others. Sometimes, if you test too early, you will get a negative result even if you are pregnant, because not enough of the hormone has built up in your bloodstream. In other cases, testing too early may give you a false positive result. In these situations, you get a positive result and then end up getting your period. What you experienced is a chemical pregnancy, or a very early miscarriage.
So if you are wondering if you are pregnant, or just experience PMS symptoms, test, test, and test for pregnancy, since it is really the only surefire way to figure out. And if you are ever worried about anything, contact your gynecologist or healthcare provider and make an appointment.
If you routinely get confused about whether it’s pregnancy or PMS, I’d recommend using a period tracker app to keep track of your cycle. I have used one for 5+ years to chart my cycle, and it’s incredibly accurate!
Best luck to you!

Well I don’t know what to think. I had some spotting the day before really really pink. Which has never happened before during a regular period. My fiance & I we’re intimate that night. Today I have some red blood spotting not like a normal period still. But it seems like my period. Which was suppose to begin at the end of the week. All this began 3 days prior to my regular cycle. Could I be pregnant?
Please I have nipple pain , headache, and abdominal discomfort which are not part of my premenstrual symptoms. Infact my PMS always come a day to the period and not like this one that I have been having almost over a week now. Please could this be pregnacy.

Hi good day, myself and bf had been having unprotected sex for a while now, but my breast had been really sore for two weeks before my next period I have been feeling tired even after meals, I have an upset stomach after coffee and back ache now and then mostly when I bend forward, usually my breast hurts 1 or 2 days before my period, which starts sometime in next week , I was wondering could I be pregnant? Doesn’t really matter I would just like to know if I should wait till I maybe miss a period ? I Havant had implantation bleeding yet either .
Hi, I got my period on Tuesday and I’ve been experiencing light bleeding, urinating more, cramping more and longer then usual, my period was early. My period lasts 6 days and cramping lasts 2 days, cramping is still happening and its my 6 day. I’m tired like crazy. I’ve been soo nauseous. My back has been hurting. I’ve been getting headaches. I get hungry but lose my appetite when I eat, some smells turn my stomach. Loss of breath. Feel like a complete zombie today… If anyone could help be amazing!
And sore breasts
Me and my bf had sex june 6 and ive been cramping ever since then.Lately ive been feeling really sluggish and have been peeing more often also my breast are tender and its dark around my nipples… i was supposed to have my period this week and its a couple days late someone pleaseeeee help me im scared out of my mind
Hi I am 20, I had my nexplanon out end of January 2015, after having it in for 6months. I had a bleed a few days after which I thought was probably a withdrawal bleed. I didn’t have a period until the end of march after that.. its now 14th June and ive still had no period, I thought maybe my cycle was just going to be every 2 months but it’s now 2 months and 2 weeks and still no af. I had a positive test about 3 weeks ago but since then all negative hpt. I now have sore nipples and boobs which I don’t get with my period, I keep getting a dull ache in my pelvic area and some pains every few days in my left abdomen not severe though. I suffer with IBS so nausea and other symptoms I can’t really say much on because I have that normally anyways. I have been urinating a lot more though and quite emotional.. crying at things that I never usually would and ive had a lot of heartburn/indigestion the past few weeks. I’m tired but not sure if more than usual. My stomach feels sort of full but not sure if that’s my imagination. I wonder if you think I’m pregnant or not ? Or if im just hoping I am !! Speaking to my gp tomorrow going to try get a blood test as I’ve been putting it off expecting my af to show up.
Would really appreciate someone’s answer. Just spoke to my doctor and she won’t do a pregnancy blood test she said only if I don’t have my period for another 3 weeks which I feel is ridiculous 🙁 all other people’s stories say they have blood tests when 1 or 2 weeks late so annoying..
Go to another doctor and get a test or go to a walk in clinic to get a lab request
Hi I’m a mother of 1 and he is 3. I got my period 3 days early last week but it was very different I was very nauseous before I had it to the point that smells made me sick but I was also sick so my Dr put me on an antibiotic. Anyways it was like that 4 days before I got my period and it was a very bright red like a fresh cut I didn’t have any cramps or anything witch is very strange I have always had bad cramps. It only lasted 4 days like my regular period but it was lighter but still stayed the bright red and it’s always been darker. My husband and I have sex everyday some days more than once a day but we use condoms some might have broke but we aren’t 100% sure. I’ve been very emotional and extremely tired to the point where I feel like a zombie and it’s been like this since before my period last week but just 4 days ago out of the blue I woke up to both my breasts swollen and extremely tender and today they have a very heavy feeling to them like they are full kind of like when I was pregnant just before they started leaking. But I took a home pregnancy test and it was negative I’m just so concerned and worried about what’s going on please help!
Maybe pregnant? I have been experiencing abdominal cramping on the left which I never cramp during PMS as well as back pain, tender breast. Using the restroom today I saw blood, period not due until the 23, I’m TTC. Could I be pregnant?
i am 4days late and home pregnancy testa are showing negative, and i am always on time with my period, could i be pregnant?
Hi ! I just had an epiphany yesterday and I can not remember if I had my period? But I guess I have to back track…. my breast feel really tender and hurt just by the touch? I told my husband but he said not to worry too much? I don’t like paranoia so should I get a pregnancy test or just wait till it comes ? My periods about almost 7 days late ….
Hi! I’m usually spot on with my period but in the month of March I had a 35 day cycle which they were due the 24 of march but came on the 31st its now may 6 and I haven’t had a period as yet, no swollen or tender breast, mild cramping, mild back ache, headache, slight nausea after eating certain foods had a few days where I was a bit clumsy, took a pregnancy test yesterday 5//05/15 got a negative result could I be pregnant?
In fact, some symptoms of ovulation are practically similar to pregnancy. We can’t say for certain that the symptoms you have is pregnancy symptoms. Although you can take a pregnant test or maybe blood test, but why don’t you get some lessons about pregnancy symptoms.
Hello. So I have been on the pill (Yaz) for two years. I have always, despite being on the pill, insisted on protected sex with my bf. But this month for some reason I decided not to use condoms and from the second we finished I regretted it. I took the morning after pill the next day, and I generally take my pill on time, but something just doesn’t feel right. Now, I am due for my period tomorrow, and I’m worried I might be pregnant. It may just be my paranoia, but I have been feeling tired, I have tender breasts, darkened areola, tummy cramps, and a bit of funky unusual discharge today. I’m in my last year of high school so things are extremely stressful right now, which may be a factor in some of the symptoms, but honestly the prospect of an unwanted pregnancy just terrifies me. I am so worried it’s affecting my sleep and day to day life potentially making the symptoms worse. I need some advice, because I know I can go to my mum and she won’t judge me, but I just don’t want to talk about it because knowing what I’d have to do… it scares me so much. Words of wisdom from some educated and experienced adults would be so comforting
Stay calm and carry on. Try your best to keep yourself present, take deep breaths and maybe even write about it in a diary or pray. Maybe you’re not pregnant, but just err on the side of paranoid… that is okay, we all do sometimes. Many of the symptoms of pregnancy and PMS are similar. You don’t know until you know, but don’t make any rash decisions, always make them with a clear head. You are probably not pregnant. But, many ppl with teenage pregnancies give birth and with the help of family and friends still reach their goals and become successful, believe me, I know one. Just stay calm and remember everything is going to be alright. 🙂
I have been having lower right abdominal pain, pelvic pain, and lower back pain. I have always had heavy periods in the past but after I had sex with my husband on November 26 2014, my next period was 11 days late I got my period on 12-29-2014 and that month it came from 12-29-2014 to 1-13-2015. I was unable to see blood afte 1-6-2015 but when I went to my school nurse blood was detected in my urine. During that month’s period, I had severe lower back pain, pelvic pain, and the blood ws very minimall. It did not soak my pads at all. It was dark in color. I used to have lots of blood on my pads as well at night and I did not have any that month. I also experienced lots ofgas. my school nurse took a pregnancy test from me on Jan 6 and told me that I was not pregnant. I did discover that I had iron defiency anemia. I eat a well balanced diet so I am not sure why I would have this type of anemia. In January I got my period during my 30 day cycle, but I noticed my period is lighter than it used to be. It has ben like this every since January. I used to have early days for periods now I am having late days. is this normal and I am still having all the pains tha I described above including gas. Is it still possible for me to be pregnant if I tested negative for pregnancy in February and march 1 2015? My period is still light versus heavy. I used to get blood clots and my period is pink in color instead of bright red like it used to be in the past. please help me.
OK , need help… I have already had two kids and right now I feel pregnant but so many things are different. I have No morning sickness and I am still bleeding! I have all other pregnancy symptoms but I’m not sure because of me still bleeding, now usually my cycle comes in beginning of months around the 6th.. But now it is a slightly different bleed that comes around 22nd, Can any one help me?
I’m not sure if I’m pregnant or not, but I never have tender breasts during or around my menstrual cycle. Now I do, but the tenderness is more server some days than others. I am also two weeks later than my usual cycle, which is usually every 5-6 week, so now I’m in week 8 and nothing. Every home pregnancy test I’ve taken has a negative result, so I’m having my blood checked, but won’t find the results out until Monday. Can someone please help me out and tell me what they think?
Did you find out if you were pregnant or not? Thanks
Hi my last period was on 3rd February and my cycle is 2 days. I have always been spot on never late or early. Me and my partner slept together In my ovulation period which was the 14-19. We slept together on the 14th and again on the 18th. The 23rd Feb I had a positive test followed by loads of negatives. I know this was early to do one but I woke at 6 in morning and It was first thing in my mind so thought I’d check. On the 25th I started spotting brown and red wasn’t much at all. Following day it was like my period came and I was on for 5 days. I wasn’t on as heavy as I usually am and there were no clots at all. My periods usually give me really bad back ect and I had none of that. Not to mention I was over a week early on my period as I wouldn’t be due till 3rd March which is today. I have bloating and feel I’m due on again. Someone please help if any one can relate thanks siobhan
Please go see a doctor. Positive test followed by negatives can signal ectopic pregnancy, which can be fatal. Combined with all the other things you mentioned…please go see an OB GYN as soon as you can.

Hi! My husband and i are trying to have a baby for the past two months. I’m supposed to have my period on the 30th this month. I am having abdominal pain just like every month when I’m having PMS but this month is slightly different. The pain is not as painful as before and sometimes it goes away for days then i will feel it again. And i don’t have my other usual PMS signs like tender breasts, etc. Can it be a sign of pregnancy or not? I don’t want to try the pregnancy tests yet since it might be a little too early or comes out negative. Need help please. Thanks.
Ok so me and my partner had sex around 3 weeks ago but we used a condom , the last few days I have been extremely weepy, one minute I’m happy the next I’m either snapping at everyone or crying my eyes out without knowing why, I’m tired all the time,.not sleeping well at night, peeing lots (was up 6 times in the night to pee last night), have headaches, backache and am feeling very bloated and sick as well as being hungry all the time. I am due m period on thursday/Friday this week but started bleeding this morning it is not very heavy but not overly light either, it started off as hardly anything this morning and has got slightly heavier but not by much (I am usually heavy from the moment I come on!) I am concerned as I do not see that I could be pregnant when I am bleeding and we used protection but I have all of the symptoms I had when I was pregnant with my daughter… any advice would be great! Thanks x

Me and my boyfriend tried to have a baby, he came in me the last day I was ovulating and we took 2 pregnancy test and they both came out negative. I had the shortest period where I was spotting for 2 days then more like a normal period for a day and a half. Roughly 2 weeks after the bleeding I started having more symptoms like discharge, tender boobs and more cravings. My period doesn’t start until Nov 18. I have an appt with my doctor Thurs. Should I just have her test me or is it to early. I’m honestly fine either way it goes….thanks in advance
I’m going thru the same thing…any word on your situation ? Also have been crazy emotional and moody the last 2 days which isn’t normal

Hello DP Nguyen,
Im 27 years old, never been pregnant. For the longest time I thought I was unable to habe children until revent anout 2 years ago a reproductive endocrinologist told me I had a beautiful ovarian reserve and actually had a bigger chance of having multiples then one child if I were to get pregnant. So now that I know its possible, I just hope one day I am bledsrd enough to conceive.
Just recently, 10/21 I started my cycle. My cycles usually are 5-6 days, starting heavy and lightening up by day 3-4. This time my cycle started light, had two heavy days (days 2-3) and pretty much stayed light and stopped by day 4-5. A little weird, but for the most part kinda normal period. About 4days later I started spotting, pinkish, yellowish discharge. Then it started to become bright red, yet really light with brownish discharge. Its been this way for about 4-5 days now. some days barely any, some days a lot. Do you think this could be Implantation bleeding? I did have sex 9/23 and 9/24 (ovulation) then again 10/18 a fews days before starting my cycle. What are your thoughts?

Hi My name is Jasmine and my period was 4 days late but I was experiencing nausea, frequent urination, shortness of breath, and body aches but today I got my period and it’s normal but this has never happened too me before
Hi i have been experiencing pregnancy symptoms. I am a mother of one and my symotoms are different from my first. My Period is 3 days late and i have been expetiencing numerous symptoms. I had cramping that has been going on for a week as well as nausea that began around the same time. My cervical mucas has increased and i keep running to the bathroom believing its my expected period. My basal temperature increased after a one day decrease on cycle day 27. The increase has been the same consistent temp for 6 days now. Btw my cycle is 33 days long. I am currently on cycle day 36 and i dont know if my mind is playing tricks on me or if its too early to test.
I had two abortions in three months and last year i had miscarriage. I left pill onmarch 2014 and getting regular period and i m ttc. Can i be pregnant again?
Today i did test and i m pregnant again and i m happy for it! Yay!

You may not be pregnant again, but you’re definitely a whore. Wrap it before you tap it and quit using abortion as a form of birth control, murderer.

Can you tell us more about this? I’d want to find out some additional information.
My partner is irregular. We had unprotected sex on the 8th day (the day after her last period) and protected sex just two weeks later. I’m sure i withdrew before i reached my climax. We’ve done it before and nothing happened. Now, she just missed a period and is not experiencing any symptom of pregnancy whatsoever. We monitored her condition every week. She didn’t feel any cramps, no fatigue,no heightened sense of smell. Nothing. But there is a little blood in her pee on the 5th week. That’s all.
There were no symptoms. Except yesterday. It’s the 7th week after her last period and she started to feel a little tingling sensation on her breasts. Is she pregnant? Or is this a symptom that she would have her period? She told me before that it was nothing to worry about, she can get delayed for up to 2 months with her period.
Its possible but pms also causes breast changes.
I had unprotected intercourse, it possible to get pregnant 2 days before fertile days? How soon can I take a HPT?
I have a longer than normal cycle, it is usually 35 days. However, this month I’m going on 28 days late. I have taken at least 3 tests all of which were negative. My nipples are extremely sore and my basal temp, which is usually erratic, has been somewhat normal for the past week and a half as it has been above 97 degrees. (it is usually in the low 96s) Could I be pregnant even though the home tests say no?
DP Nguyen says
Yep, it is possible for you to be pregnant even if the HPT says no. Maybe your hCG levels aren’t high enough for the home pregnancy test to pick up, or perhaps yours isn’t sensitive enough to pick it up. It’s often more reliable to get a blood pregnancy test at your doctors office to test for pregnancy. Good luck
Could I be pregnant if my period is milder than usual and I didn’t have any of my normal symptoms for my period? I started bleeding the 24th and my period was due the 25th. I only had light cramping and I’ve been having major headaches over the past few weeks too.

Sometimes it is normal to have a lighter period than other months. Your flow can fluctuate.
my friend is two weeks delayed already and she got negative results in pregnancy test she is stil waiting for another week.. and she said her urine is very yellowish or most like orange color but she never feel any discomfort is she probably pregnant? thanks and hope to hear from you soon! god bless and more power!
DP Nguyen says
Her urine being yellow is probably because she is dehydrated and needs to drink more water. She could have an infection – a UTI or something else – that is causing her urine problems. Tale another test and go see a doctor for a blood test if she doesn’t get her period.
Me and my boyfriend have had unprotected sex for the past two years now, and we haven’t had any problem at all. I’m not supposed to start for another couple of days, but I have just been feeling weird. I usually do not have any horrible pms symptoms and if I do its the day before I start, or The Day I start.
For the past week now I haven’t had any energy at all, I am sleeping all the time. I’ll sleep from 11pm-7am and then fall back asleep around 8am and not wake up until after 12pm. My stomach feels bloated, and I swear I have put on a few pounds. I have been dizzy and lightheaded. My emotions are everywhere, one minute I am fine and the next I am crying. I am more snappy, I get frustrated easier. I don’t know, its just weird, I FEEL like I am pregnant, if that makes any sense. I told myself I am not going to freak out until after I either have my period or I don’t.
I had my periods 3weeks ago and it was brownish plus it lasted 2days, but normaly its 3 to 4 days. Am also having back pains, cramps in my stomach and I pee regularly. I also have a bad smell coming from my vagina and it worries me a lot. Had a pregnancy test 3 times 2 weeks ago but it shows negative, so what can it be? Another thing is I sometimes feel like something is moving in my stomach, but happens not regularly and my boyfriend and I are still having unprotected sex.
DP Nguyen says
Take another home pregnancy test, and go see your doctor for a blood pregnancy test. If you are having regular unprotected sex and the brownish spotting you had three weeks ago could have been implantation bleeding. The smell from your vagina could be an infection. but make an appointment with your gynecologist and tell them your symptoms. Good luck!
Hi, I am a mom of three already and I am usually very in tune to my body and changes that take place.
My husband and I had unprotected sex the last day or day after the last day of my period. Then to my surprise, the very next day, my ovulation signs began! I thought uh oh, and the ovulation signs continued, along with the pain I get once the egg is released.
I did not think too much of it until later that week my breasts began to feel almost like there was a milk let down, and were tingly. When that happened I thought I was probably pregnant, because this is not normal for me.
A week later now, my breasts are very sore, which is NEVER a PMS symptom for me. So this also is strange.
I had light spotting the last two days and now it has stopped. The day after it stopped is when my breasts got very painful. This bleeding would be too early for my period, but like I said, with this cycle being very irregular, I do not know what to expect.
I keep testing just because I can’t believe I am NOT pregnant at this point, but I know it is too early.
All of this has taken place within the last two weeks, about. With my cycle thrown off the way it was, when will I be able to get a reliable HPT result? I have tested (early I know) and it’s been negative.
I am also 30. Are changes in PMS symptoms common around this age, and that could explain the irregular symptoms?
Hello my name is Mary ok I had my period from Nov 19th-Nov24th I had unprotected sex on Dec 2nd a day or so after that I noticed my breasts were sore mostly on the sides and under my nipples at first I figured it was due to ovulation but then the pain got worse and I noticed my breasts felt fuller and heavier I’m not due for another period for another week could I be pregnant or is a bout of pms? I also have had fatigue and bloating no nausea or food cravings or aversions yet. Any help would be appreciated thanks
Hello my name is Mary ok I started spotting last month on the 17th and got a full period on the 19th I had sex on dec 2nd ( no protection) a day or so after I noticed my breasts started to feel sore and tender I just chalked it up to ovulation pain at first but they didn’t get better they got worse it was so bad the other night I had to sleep fully on my back instead of on my side. I also noticed they were fuller too I have had bloating and fatigue as well could I be pregnant or is it just pms? My next period isn’t due until the 17th so I’am trying not to stress and wait until after then. I also haven’t had any nausea or aversions to food or anything like that I also don’t feel like my bbt is elevated any help would be appreciated thanks

I was supposed to start my period today… I thought it was going to start last night because there was some light bleeding. I bled a little bit today but it has stopped again. And for a week now I’ve been nauseous. I took a pregnancy test at home and it’s negative… I’m not really sure what to think.
My husband and I have been trying to have a baby. I’m 24 years old. My period is 23 days late. I took an over the counter pregnancy test about a week and a half ago and the test was negative. I did feel as if I was going to get my period. I have been having slight cramping, breast sensitivity, nausea, my body is sore and i’m more tired than usual. I do have a Dr appointment for the beginning of December but I just wanted to see what you ladies thought.
