Please Help this Blog From Being Shut Down

Dear Readers,

I am writing you out of desperation.

The amount of daily traffic is getting too much for my shared web hosting, and unless I upgrade to a dedicated server (costs over $140/month), I will NOT be able to keep this blog up and running. (I do not earn enough through blog advertising.)

This blog was started and is financed solely from my own pocket. I don’t have a corporation behind me, and I blog out of interest and a desire to help other women. I also strive to answer all comments to help alleviate fears and worries from my readers.

PLEASE DONATE and Prevent This Blog From Being  SHUT DOWN.

I don’t want to have to shut down the site, so I am desperately asking you – out of the kindness of your hearts – to donate to the running costs (the web hosting) to keep this blog up and running. I cannot keep adding content with the high amount of daily traffic that I am getting without causing problems for other people on the same shared server. I have to switch to a dedicated server.

Please donate (safe and secure through Paypal) and help cover the operating costs for this blog.

I want to continue helping women everywhere. Please DONATE TODAY.

Even if you just donate a $1, that’s one more dollar that can go toward the running of this blog.
Thank you for your time,
DP

Blogger to WordPress Migration: A Step-By-Step Guide

Blogger to WordPressAre you ready to migrate from Blogger to WordPress? If you’re a newbie blogger, the idea of switching blog platforms may scare you. It’s downright intimidating, and you will probably make mistakes along the way. To help you avoid major “oops,” make sure that you read this blog post very carefully, and follow every one of the steps.

Making the move from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress blog can become an unnecessary headache, especially if you don’t know what you’re doing. Switching from Blogger to WordPress isn’t that hard, but it’s the technical glitches that can really consume your time and energy. (I migrated this blog to WordPress in November of 2010, and due to technical difficulties, I didn’t finish transferring over until January. I hope to help you learn from my many, many mistakes.)

In this WordPress migration tutorial, I have included screenshots to help you out. I have tried to explain everything as simply as I can.   [click to continue…]

Blogger vs. WordPress: What’s the Best Blogging Platform?

This is the first in a series of blog posts devoted to Moving from Blogger to WordPress

Wordpress vs Blogger

Whether you’re a new blogger or you’ve been around for a while, at some point you’re going to ask yourself, “Blogger vs. WordPress – What’s the Right Blogging Platform for Me?” and “Should I Switch to WordPress?” and “What’s the Best Blogging Platform?”

These are hard questions, and there is no right or wrong answer. The choice of blogging platforms is your decision, but I want to discuss my personal blogging journey, and then discuss the pros and cons of Blogger vs. WordPress.

(I’ll be focusing this blog post on WordPress.org – which is self hosted. For a comparison between the two WordPress platforms, please read: Free WordPress.com vs. Self-Hosted WordPress.org).

Become.com – Shopping Your Way

There are many product search and comparison shopping websites online, but Become.com is becoming a leader among these types of website. I’ve never personally used the site, they have a nice website and interface, and you can practically find everything you’re looking for – from household furniture to items for your nursery (like baby bed co sleeper and baby mini crib bedding).

Some of the discounts are huge. I saw a JC Penney vanity that was marked down from $1,000 to $549. Anything over $500 is still expensive, but hey, it’s always great to save a couple hundred bucks… especially when it comes to household furniture.

When you’re browsing on Become.com, if you find a product that you like, you just click on the red “see it” button and it takes you to the retailer’s website. For example, if you’re browsing for crib bedding purple and you find a crib set that you like, click on it and you’ll be taken to the company’s website to buy. Pretty nifty tool.

This is a sponsored post. Thank you to Become.com for Supporting my Blog.
